I would love to trade the dash and shifter parts with somebody. I would love to get the jump seat too for that matter. I took the floor console out this week and part of the dash off already to study the parts I will need. I was ready to go down to the dealership in the morning and order all the parts I can.
Of course I would love to just trade the stuff with somebody the has a column shift.
Happy to send pictures. There is not a hole in the floor for the shifter, it works only to control a cable the runs from the bottom of the dash area. I have been driving my truck for a week with the floor shifter/lever assembly zip tied to the bottom of my dash. My steering column is already drilled at the factory for the column shifter. The gear indicator part on the cluster looks like it just replaces a lighted plaque on my cluster that says "FX4".

Any, Im just excited to find a recent post about this considering I was about to go spend $$$$$$$ after searching the internet extensively for parts.

The interior of my truck has "light" grey cloth seats and the ebony dash inserts. From what I have seen all the FX4 small parts are colored the same.
I'd be happy to even get the basic black XL parts.
Too bad you're over on the big island or I'd consider swapping out with you (plus you ordered the parts anyways). I'm over on Oahu and this is a conversion I would really consider doing (even though your interior does not match mine). I do not have the technical skills though to pull it off myself so would need a skilled person to lend me a hand. Good luck with your swap and make sure you take some pictures of your progress and write up a post for the how to section if you get the chance.

Default Got some pics.

I took some pics and have 7 good ones in large format that illustrate the talking points on this. It seems that some of you may not know what the non-flow through dash looks like. Its different than the drop in console or bench seat dash.

I dont feel like reducing this pics for the forum. I have them ready though and can email them privately to anybody who wants them. They are about 2 megs each. I prefer a lot of detail in my pics especially in a situation like this.

Default conversion

I am going to do a step by step conversion post on the conversion from column shifter to console shifter this weekend if I can get to it. I have removed the dash and console out of a 2005 screw from a bone yard and have all of the parts including the cluster to do the conversion. The only part of the conversion I wont be able to make work are the rear air vents because there is no port in may ac unit for the vents. there is a post where a guy converted a single cab stx on another site and everything just plugs in. The dash removal is pretty tough but other than that it shouldnt be that bad. BTW you dont have to change the steering column, you just remove the shift lever and disconnect thewiring for the od and the selecter on the old cluster.

Default Dash

Am I remembering right in that the odometer recorded in the dash and if you swap out the dash the mileage goes with the dash? I thought I remembered reading on one or more threads where someone had swapped out the dash and then found the mileage shown was for the vehicle it came out of rather than the vehicle it was in. I know there's supposed to be some place that can change or reset it but I don't remember who that was.

I think the look of the console shifter is sharp but not practical. Like a previous poster said, it is wasted space. Plus when i test drove some fx4's i did not like how my knee rested against the console. I went with the xlt trim: column shifter , bucket seats with center console but it does not extend to the dash. Plus it's a good spot for the lady to put her purse. just my 2 cents, if you have longer legs, the console shifter might not be for you.

Default Shifter swap

I got an 07 F 150 XLT trim. was thinking about doing the conversion myself. could I get them pics? And Im pretty handy with tools. was it all that bad, I see a bunch of comments on here saying is pretty extensive and hard but, I know I can handle it. It's only trim work. Thanks!
