Default Possible 07 purchase

Hi guys, i'm looking at a 2007 F150 4x4 with 101k miles. I've never owned a 5.4, just the 5.0 and ecoboost. What are some things i should look for/be worried about if i were to get the truck? It looks spotless and the owner claims to have babied it.

If i get it, i will have some extra cash to put into any type of preventative maintenance type things. What would you all suggest? Spark plugs, full fluid changes, etc...

Thanks guys.

Get maintenance records. Check to make sure original plugs have been changed, if not ask him to drop the price. The plugs are a pain to get out if they are the originals. Ford redesigned them from then on. Check to make sure 4x4 works, if not look at replacing the IWE. Make sure there are no noises, especially tapping at hot idle. Other than that, always do a full fluid change, unless there are records of them being changed. Run oil and filter for 5k. These engines need clean oil as much as possible.

Carfax comes back clean, 2 previous owners. He told me plugs were changed at 75k miles, and routine maintenance has been done. He claims it drives great, I haven't gotten down there to drive it yet.

So definitely get all fluids changed firstly? I'll have at least a grand set back for any repairs or maintenance needed. If I get this truck, I'd like it to last me quite awhile.

I would change the oil, filter, trans (with filter), and coolant. Unless they have been done recently and are documented. I just learned not to trust anyone that says it's been done. I need proof.

That's what i planned on doing right off the bat. Probably the transfer case and axles as well? I don't mind spending some money getting all that stuff done for peace of mind.
