Default plugs and coils

Why does Ford and every other garage out there want so much to change out plugs? $400 for plugs and labor? Coils have to be taken off each plug in order to change them anyway, so labor for coils is not existent. Are the plugs on an 05 5.4 f150 that difficult to change?

thank you in advance to anyone who replies.

you must have never worked in a commision shop then. if my tools come out of my box to take a part off, you best bet im getting paid to do it. according to alldata, it pays 2.2 labor hours to replace one plug. it didnt say if the cop was an overlap in the labor or not.

Ya 5.4 had the 3 piece plug that will break alot of times.. Labor on a job also considers what needs to be removed to get to the part being replaced. Heck give it a shot yourself, it's worth more than what it calls for in my opinion

If $400 dollars is all they want to replace all 8 of your 3 piece plugs...that's fair...

There are many folks on this forum that would have gladly paid $400.00 to replace their 5.4 plugs! Some may chime in and state what they paid...then again, they may want to forget that point in their life.
