Question Plugs

OK...I know I am beating a dead horse here, but I am now faced with changing my plugs. I have a 2005 FX4.

I am generally a handy guy and change my own brakes, replace my transfer case motor, etc. Should I buy the plug removal tool and do the tune up myself or should I pay the big bill and have the dealership do it?

Are the plugs that tough to remove if you have the Lisle tool?

If you feel comfortable with doing it I say go for it, It is actually very easy to do just time consuming and follow the TSB and you will be fine. If they break just use the Lisle tool

ive never got plugs quoted by the dealer. how much are you saving?

I don't want to insult your level of expertise but I would have someone else do it to try to avoid anything going wrong . But if you believe your up for it you should try. But he prepared to have a backup vehicle for the time being just in case. But sine advise. The night before stay up and soak the plugs all night to make then easier to remove and avoid breakage. And read through the several pages of posts in the spark plug sticky at the top of this forum. Then you might be better to judge if you want to do the job or not.

It's not that hard. I broke 3 and they were easy to get out. I made up a vacuum tool, so I could make sure i got all the debris out, when I used the removal tool. I used a 1/4 piece of plastic tubing and taped it to my shop vac.
There is a good tutorial on the engine topic page. I have the lisle tool. It is a must.
