I ran a 1998 super cab 4.6 auto 4x4 with 365,000 km all last winter pushing snow, didn't hurt anything at all. I don't know how you could possibly do the damage you are talking about on these trucks. You just have to be smarter than the snowplow.

I would recomend a pre 94 f250 or 350 with the non turbo 7.3. They are beast at plowing. I plowed snow for a guy with a contract for secondary roads last year. He had a 92 and 95 f350. The turbod 95 spun out as soon the turbo spooled. As far as torque I think the f150 would do fine. But it will rag it out fast.

Hi, Bill . . .
*
Sno-Way has an application for the new 2011 and 2012 Ford F-150 models.* Ford has not yet given any notice that this is OK but this is normal with all the truck manufacturers.* In fact, if all snowplow manufacturers completely went by ‘official’ yes or nos from vehicle manufactuers, 40% of all types and brands of snowplows would not be going on most vehicles.* Ford has received a Series 26 for testing, stated verbally that they are impressed the plows patented “EIS” Electrical system had no adverse effects on this vehicles new style electrical system (only plow manufacturer that did not have adverse effects on this vehicle), but again Ford has not given any official OK. *Sno-Way and the snowplow industry expect an official OK from Ford in Spring 2012.* Ford did formally ask Sno-Way to halt and wait on any more plows for the F-150 “EcoBoost” model as they are concerned about overheating of the Intercooler System.* Sno-Way did pull their original application for the EcoBoost model until further tests could be completed.
*
No warranty has ever been voided by any snowplow manufacturer with any vehicle manufacturer.*

Sorry for the duplicated email, not sure if you are swamped, on vacation, or other... So I send this again as I am really interested in installing a plow...

Jeff,

I heard ford has approved your model 26 plows for the 2011 F-150, a half ton pickup truck. Mine is a 4x4, small V8 5 liter automatic transmissionBut so far, no luck in finding the official notice from Ford. Is this true? Has Ford changed its mind? Even without Fords approval, what's Sno-way's take on the subject? (I know without Ford's OK I would void the warranty).

What ever vehicle you plow with, f150, 250 or ........ you better have the $$$ for repairs. Sometimes an older truck you buy just before the plowing season is worse because you can pretty much be sure they have been worked hard.
You sign a contract with people/businesses and they don't care if your truck breaks, they just want what they expect/pay for.
Gearing of the rear end mentioned before, is a big help. Get the engine into its power curve sooner.

My cousin uses his 06 STX for plowing. He has a contract for some of the local businesses to plow their parking lots. It does an excellent job with a light duty plow. He charges his local Food Lion $150 every time he plows. He has bad winters where he lives, but it paid for itself in one winter,
