Default Well, My truck is stuck in 4x4hi. any advice on how to get it out?

Well like the title says my truck is stuck in 4x4 hi.

I had to tap on the transfer case motor tonight to get it in before leaving work. (first time engaging 4x4 all winter)
A few taps of the hammer and it went into 4hi no problem.
got home and the weather conditions shaped up so i went to take it out.

pulling into the driveway at about 10mph tried to switch it out of 4x4 and nothing happend.

Had my roommate try and switch it out while i tapped on the TC actuator motor, and no luck.

So im hoping someone has some advice for me so i can get the issue resolved.

Any and all help is appreciated!

Mine did the same with 4 low, let it idle in neutral for about thirty seconds,if not drive about thirty yards in reverse and do it again. Let me know how it goes

I don't know too much about the 4x4 system but i would be placing the blame on the actuator motor. And depending on how hard you 'tapped it' you may have damaged the magnet inside.
I've destroyed starters 'tapping' them, and i honestly didn't think i was hitting real hard.

Tried the Neutral + reverse thing. Didnt work.
The motor has been acting up for a few years now. maybe its time to just bite the bullet and get a new one.

I'm not sure about F150s, but on older Explorers you can take the motor off and switch the t-case with a pair of pliers.
