Did mine a couple weeks ago, still running nice and quiet. Super easy fix. Have you guys noticed how much smaller the opening on the bottom is.

I could've reused one side, but for $11.00 I went ahead and replaced both. I did both sides for less than $100.00 and 30 minutes. Total on both solenoids was 87.00 and the seals for both were 11.00. Yes they were OEM Ford Parts. Gotta love fordparts.com! Only thing is you have to call the dealerships that pop up on the site when you check for pricing and availability. The solenoids showed up for 47.03 on the site and when I called and ordered them I actually got them for 38.00 a piece. Go figure on that one. Drastic improvement as far as engine noise and idling...
How do you get such a good price again? Im getting read to do this all (again) would like to save as much as possible. You said you called the dealship that pops up. The dealership I have in town is running about five hundred more then what I have in my shopping cart on fordparts.com, would be nice to save even more if i just need to make a phone call. please help.

Alsatrophine - do you beleieve you got this much mileage increase due to the VCT changeout? I have an 05 5.4, the engine is by no means loud when running normal light tick of injectors. However, I get about the same mileage you do. I live 5 miles from work in an area where most of the time iam doing 40mph (there tends to be a traffic light every mile or so). I get 11-12 in town warm months and 10ish in the cold. The best highway I have gotten was 16 at about 67-70mph. I normally get 13-14 and can get up around 15+ if I keep the RPMS constant (ie not letting it jump up on hills, etc) at speeds around 72-74mph.

Has anyone else done the VCTs and notice a substantial increase in mileage? If mileage agains of 20 to 30% from changing VCTs, that's $20 to $30 per week in gas. The VCTs would pay for them selves in a month.
