Default Please help with wiring path

Today, I installed a new door handle with keypad (did not come with keypad) in 08 Screw. Plugged it in and it works – yea.
I could not, however, figure out how in the heck to secure the wiring harness, I gave up for the evening as the mosquitos were about to carry me off.
I am concerned if I do not get the wiring properly secured it could get caught up in the window, lock plunger linkage, or some other of the various moving part inside the door.
Handle has a sort of L shaped carrier for the wires near the end of the carrier – toward the plug end there is one of those push in plastic “stud” – obviously meant to secure it – but I can’t seem to find a logical place to secure it. I wonder if I fed the wires incorrectly. – Does anyone have any advice or pictures of your wire carrier path?
Thanks for your help [img][/IMG]

No experience with the f150 wiring personally, but it looks to me like the u shaped piece goes around the rear of the window channel and the pin probably secures to the inner door shell.

You messaged me the other night about it I was having trouble with PM so I couldn't reply. I still haven't figured out where to put it it's still hanging loose it rubs my window but I haven't had any problems yet of it hooking on anything. When I get time I'm gonna look at it again and see where I can put it.

Default I think I got it

I got tired of waiting and went back out with a fresh mind.

Did not take too much mucking about until I decided on my routing

I am happy and confident that what I did will work - I took some picture so that others can see what I did.

Note that I am a rank amateur - this is what I did- follow at your own risk

I believe, the lower clip should be moved downward to the lower position. There should be a hole in that plate.

TMajor:

Thanks for your post - I searched several times and did not find that.

It appear you hooked yours up... but my experience is different from yours

It seems you have an 12? I do not know if he 12 is different from an 04-08

the pictures are from my 2008 model

Couple of observations:
1) the metal part you suggested as attachment point is straight- no bend in it and to hook into it (on my truck) would require a bend in the wiring "channel" that would not be "natural" - seem like it would have to go 90 degrees.
2) assuming (dangerous I know) I have the "push in stud" in correct location- just below the handle bucket- the lower threaded stud ( on lower part of wire "channel" would not reach the point where you suggest attachement.

these are my observation based on doing the job this morning - After installing the wiring before replacing trim panel I operated lock from all possible sources (key, key fob, switch, keypad), operated the door handle to open door, and ran window through up/down travel to check for clearance - it passed my inspection.

That said, this is only what I did - other are free to install as they see fit

Yours may be different - thanks for your input

Actually my truck is a 2012, but I believe (not confirmed), that they are very similar.
The harness rack, of course has the 2 faster clips .. one of which goes below the handle, pointing toward the outer door skin. The other fastener on the rack, closest to the connector, is pointed 180 degrees in the opposite direction, so, should point toward the inside of the truck. The harness rack, should run from the handle, toward the door post/latch, curve toward the inner door, then curve to head toward the hinge end of the door and downward, toward the connector (this will provide a routing path around the window travel). If this routing is followed, there should be a hole in something (part of the door frame) to insert the clip. (Not part of the locking mechanism.)

Sorry, yes, I corrected from 09 to 12 after looking at your post.

Your 2012 may be different, mine is 08.

There are holes on inside of door shell but none line up with the wire carrier harness and the only one close is blocked by the lock rod (that comes through the door trim panel). It is in the picture but difficult to see.

It certainly will not fit where indicated in your post. I goofed about for a while checking various locations...

I am happy that you have your installed and I am happy with my installation. It is secure and free of any interference.
