This is my frist ford truck, i picked up a 06 fx4 217,000 klms had a knock on idel, i colud tell it was not a rod so i bought it, took it apart, the timing chain ramp was broken, the tensinors had the oil seals blown out so while iwas there put in new cam phasers. The chain had hit the cover and i figed that was makeing the knock, it was running good other then the knock.
Just finished to day satred up 5 30 synthetic motercraft filter. Ran good no noise got hot no noise other then the injectors. Whent for a short drive came to a stop and stalled.
Stareted back up low idel drove then ratel nosie 400 rpm nosie i asume from low oil to tenisnors stalls .... at 1000 rpm and up no more knock but then it dros to 800 to 400 knock then stall
Please help me iam going go crazy.

 

Working on the truck if i disconect the vct pass side solinoid the truck runs no knock or stall just down on power plug it in rev up knock knock shake stall..... ideas ....any 1

 

So the trucks runs okay with the solenoid unplugged? Sounds like the solenoid is stuck open retarding the timing to the cam, which is stalling the engine.

 

If its the solenoid why dose it work unplugged is it a 1 way valve or just power open ,if just power open only is the cpu messed or is their a sensor that could be telling it it move.
Before i did the job there was chain noise but run ok good the ramp was broke and the seals blown out, changed the cam phaser with after market just while i was in there.
