Default Play in brand new OEM RWD front wheel bearing

'06 rwd screw. Bought a brand new motorcraft rotor/hub/bearing assembly at the dealership yesterday. Put it on this morning and before I even put the spindle nut on I could tell there was play in the bearing. This seems unacceptable to me. The whole test of the wheel bearing is to check for play between noon and six oclock. If I install this rotor and put the wheel on there is going to be lots of play at noon and six oclock. It doesn't feel right to me. What do you think?

I guess you could go look at another new part and see if it's the same.
If the bearing unit inside there has 2 opposing taper bearings some slip like that is fine and totally normal until you tighten the spindle nut, then the opposing tapers being forced together will take out that slop.

Thank you sir you were right on the money. Put the nut on, tightened to spec, no play whatsoever.
