My trucks quickly approaching 100,000k and I am planning a tune up for it. Just like any young kid out there I would like to upgrade where I can. I will be having the tranny flushed and filter changed, new fuel filter, front and rear end fluid change, plugs and all that good stuff.

I want to use OEM/Motorcraft products where I can and upgrade where I can. Im new to the 3v motors so I am a little confused about the spark plug system. What all do I need to change and replace? obviously the plugs but what about the COP's? Also is the COP's and the coils the same thing? what about the coil pack? Sorry for my noob questions but im used to the old 5.0 motors, new plugs, wire set, cap, and rotor and your done. I know about buying the tool to remove the broken spark plugs but I need to know about the cops or coils or coil packs or whatever I need.

Also what brand coils and stuff? Motorcraft? or Accel? Granetelli?

Im going to order motorcraft plugs, fuel filter, and whatever is recomended for tranny fluid.

Anything else I need/could replace? Do these motors have PCV Valves?

 

Go with the Motorcraft or Autolite plugs (Autolite makes the Motorcraft)

Coils are Coil On Plug (COP) and get what is the best value and MAKE SURE they are for the 3v!!!! I replaced my originals with Accel a little over a year ago, but Summit Racing has a set for $180 which is hard to beat.

Clean your MAF and your throttle body, but use CRC products designed for MAF and Throttle Body cleaning. Replace belt and upper/lower radiator hoses.
