Default Plain boring gauges

I was wondering if I can swap in lariat gauges into a basic stx f150. My question is, if I would need a cable for the Rpm gauge to work and if the cables in the back would just be a plug and play.

You can, but you will lose the tripometer because they use an external button to toggle the gauge display. Your a/c also won't work and your door chime/interior lights may have issues.Read through this.https://www.f150forum.com/f4/cluster-swap-revisited-17748 if you're interested in an XLT cluster (like yours plus tachometer) with 61k mi, let me know.

I think FX4 gauges will work better.

You have to remove the 'if' from the end of the link...

That video shows that the cluster is plug n play, however, do not expect everything to work like before. I can't speak for the XLT cluster, but FX and Lariat clusters will leave a few things different. If the donor truck had auto A/C, yours will not work unless you convert yours to auto.
Door chimes, done light, compass, outside air temperature, and some other things will not work. I switched my cluster from one exactly like yours to an FX but added the Saleen S331 face to it, but I can deal with the few things not working. One day I'll take it to the dealer and have them fix it, but no hurry for that.

But again, the swap itself is plug n play, so you shouldn't have any issues installing. Attached a few pics of my swap. Good luck!
