Default Which Plag Part Number???

Okay, getting ready to attempt the spark plug change on my 2006 F150 5.4L FFV with 41K miles this weekend. I'm wanting to keep with the Motorcraft plugs, but getting different results. I've searched here, and everyone appears to be using various different brands and part numbers. So which am I to use? This is what I've found from a couple sites.

Motorcraft website for my VIN calls for SP507.
Summit website by year/make/model/motor (no option for FFV) calls for SP515
RockAuto website, only lists Autolite and Chamption plugs for FFV's, but has the SP515 for non-FFV 5.4L's.

Okay, I see that RockAuto has the SP507 listed as platinum, and the SP515 as double platinum. What's the difference? Should I just opt for the Champion plugs, even though I've never been a fan of Champion plugs?

I recently had my plugs changed and according to my mechanic that has has been doing alot of f 150's with the 5.4 the 515 is no different from the 507 as far as breaking he has seen both break in the same place.I beleive champion makes a one piece plug.

Only 41,000 miles??? Id wait and put some more miles on the plugs.Ford doesn't recommend new plugs until 100,000 maitanance schedule or go at least 80,000. Each to their own

If you really want to change them this early, call your local dealership and ask them which plugs are called for in the service bulletin. You may even be able to find the service bulletin online. When the bulletin was released, it called for a different plug to go in than the original that would apparently prevent a repeat clusterf-ck.

He's seen both break, not good. I want to replace the stock ones so they don't seize up and break upon removing. Also don't want to replace every 40K if the new motorcrafts are going to break anyways. Sounds like I may be opting for the Champion plugs. May have to replace them more often, but at least they won't have this issue.

Want to replace the breaking plugs with something that won't break before they seize up. Otherwise if I knew they wouldn't break upon removal, I'd leave them in until 80K-100K.

Think I'll do that then (call Ford & look up most recent TSB). Want Motorcraft, but don't want the new plugs snapping after a few years of wear. I know my good mechanic friends states to change them soon, and they typically use the Champion due to the 1 piece design. But neither of us are happy with Champion.

SP-515 is what I used, Ford specified them when I called about them. Rockauto.com had them the cheapest for $9.50 a plug. Also check out this thread, has a ton of info on the plugs for these trucks. https://www.f150forum.com/f4/5-4l-3v...09-07-a-56871/

I may need to call Ford, just in case. Not sure what the difference plugs have between a FlexFuel and Non-FlexFuel motor. When I checked RockAuto, they only listed the Champion and Autolite plugs only for the FlexFuel models, but had a lot bigger variety (including the sp507 & sp515) for the Non-FlexFuel models.

Oh and thanks for the link. Remember seeing that thread a while back (haven't been on the site in a while). And only searched some of the newer (2011) threads.
