Ping after installing SCT tune
I installed the 87 octane canned tune when I received my SCT x4 tuner on my 07 f150 5.4. Whenever I accelerate there is a pinging noise. I filled up this morning with 89 octane gas and that seemed to help a little. Should I mess with the timing and back it down or wait for my custom tunes to arrive? I didn't address the problem when I ordered the tunes because I didn't know it was there at the time so I don't know if the custom tunes will be any better. I emailed 5 star tuning and am waiting to hear back. Any other input would be appreciated

I am not running a cold air intake. I'm trying to find a youtube video that someone has captured the sound. Some people call it ping, possible some call it spark knock. Maybe the sound if you used crappy gas?

In your case, since you have new tunes on the way. Return to stock until you have the new tunes then put them in.
If I had an issue with my tune that wasn't there on a previous tune or stock, I would save a datalog and send it to my tuner with a description of the problem. Most tuners have a "how to datalog" guide to get the parameters they want. Do those, plus a log of the problem.
Even if they charge you $20 for a tune adjustment its better then damaging your truck. Thats just my humble opinion.
