Default Then whats this about

PRODUCT REPAIR DESCRIPTION

This is a repair service for the engine computer or Powertrain Control Module, (PCM) from a 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, or 2008 4.2L V6, 4.6L V8, or 5.4L V8 Ford F150 that has been damaged by a failed coil pack and spark plugs. This is the most common problem with the Ford F150 PCM and is often indicated by one or more of the following diagnostic trouble codes: P0351, P0352, P0353, P0354, P0355, P0356. The engine computer is often referred to as the ECM (Engine Control Module), ECU (Engine Control Unit), or simply as the computer.

Our rebuild service is the easiest way to get back on the road and the ONLY way to avoid a trip to the dealership:
  • There is NO PROGRAMMING REQUIRED!
  • Your existing keys will work upon re-installation.
**If the PCM has been damaged by a faulty coil pack, then the coil pack must be changed at the same time as the PCM. Based on extensive experience with these computers, we strongly recommend a genuine Motorcraft coil pack. There are many counterfeit coils on the market that claim to be Motorcraft, so be sure to order from an authorized Ford/Motorcraft distributor. We have several sources that we can recommend for these coils. Please contact us at 800-547-2049 for recommendations.**

@ redfishtd - Thanks for the info. I have not got any CEL codes for failed coils or plugs. Although, I do get random misses which I can watch tick up but its NEVER enough to throw a code...unless the truck idles in park for hours (happened at a tailgate).

UPDATE: I've replaced the PCM and had it reprogrammed, also had the ignition encoder replaced and I replaced the Fuel Pump Driver Module (although I don't think it was faulty it was just a matter of time before it went, it was severely corroded). Once, the PCM was programmed I drove the truck for a week and it started acting back up! This time I stopped to pick up groceries on my way home from work after driving for 40min, I parked, turned off the truck, stepped out, realized I was crooked in the space, jumped back in the car and all it would do is crank continuously and never stay on. I tired again 5-10 min later and couldn't even get a crank although the battery seemed fine. I put a jump box on it and it it cranked, at which time I smashed the gas and it fired up. I drove it right to the dealership, where it sat for the weekend. They gave me a diagnoses of a bad Throttle Body, possible excess water in the Fuel Pump and a bad battery (a bad core). To replace the TB, clean the fuel tank and replace the Fuel Pump they quoted me at $2,300. Needless to say I'm picking up the truck this afternoon and will replace the parts on my own and return the battery to Advance Auto (I bought it the week of thanksgiving).

My question to you all. Would a bad, throttle body and/or fuel pump cause this? It seems odd to me my throttle body would be bad (especially the whole thing and not the TPS or motor). Also, what are the possibilities of excess water in my fuel tank and cause the pump to fail or freeze?! Keep in mind I was driving the truck for 40 mins when this happened. Thoughts?

Seems odd the fuel pump and throttle body would fail at the same time. Did the check engine light come on once you were able to get it started back up? Usually if a part in the throttle body fails it will set a code but if the fuel pump fails it will usually just crank no start with no codes.
