Painted the rims!
Just bought my truck this summer. Came with an additional set of 18" split 5 spoke rims and brand new GY Wrangler AT/S (They have about 500 miles on them from driving the truck home from purchasing it across state. I do not think they will do well in a winter scenario based on many many reviews. I decided to fix up the rims due to all the little knocks, scrapes, and imperfections as they will be my dedicated winter rims that will see a lot of salt and I do not want rusting out, that I will be mounting Blizzak DM-V1 275/65/18 on tomorrow afternoon.
The GY will be for sale for anyone interested (ones in pictures currently mounted)
Steps:
1. Dremeled all caked on crap
2. Hand and orbital sander to scuff them up with 400 grit dry
3. Cleaned with some cleaning product to get off all dust and little debris
4. Used the index card / newspaper method to keep paint in
5. 3 coats of primer
6. 3 coats of truck bed coating
7. 3 coats of clear
8. Let em dry and recovered from ridiculous headache from breathing so much paint fumes haha. It's cold outside so the kitchen floor and living room were designated.)
I am extremely pleased with how they came out. They finish, although tough to make out with my crappy pictures is between a smooth body paint and the line-x stuff used in beds. Its kind of looks and feels like sandpaper but in a good way
Stuff seems real durable and stuck like tar so if anyone decides to go this route do a practice piece first! Clear enamel just made it pop and it looks great. Can't wait to switch out the tires and get them mounted.
Let me know what you think.
They were originally polished aluminum with a beige tint.

Just noticed the in the last picture it looks like paint on the tire..IT IS NOT PAINT! It is just dirty and the phone makes it look terrible. If I sell the tires on here I'll take some good pictures of the all the tires and tred etc. They are practically new though so not too much to show.
Sweet. I was thinking of doing mine in the bed liner stuff. Looks great. I did my chrome times in gloss black. It turned out good as well. Its a great way to revive a old pair of wheels. Congrates bud
275/65/18 and are for SALE!
They looked marked but they are not, phone camera made them look like they have black spots. They have 1000 miles on them and are ready to go!
Needed to paint them due to salt so they'd last so I painted them black to match.
