I painted mine on my old truck. I sanded them smooth, cleaned them with a degreaser, used a adhesion promoter, and put on a few coats of paint and clear.

They do and you could buy those sand and paint them. This was free though, since I had color match paint laying around from the badges I had done.

Yea I would just buy the skull caps online or at any automotive place and paint them to match the truck. I had taken the tow mirrors of my dads king ranch when he sold it and put them on my lariat. His truck was burgundy and mine is black so I repainted them. I ended up buying chrome caps from tasca anyways and have a spare set sitting around. I've seen people ptm with the chrome handles as well.

Will those caps fit the regular mirrors?

No, the ones I have are only for the towing mirrors but they are actually a lot harder to find then the caps for the standard mirrors. My cousin bought stainless caps from autozone but the ford ones are just plastic. Plastic would be cheaper. Here is a crappy picture of his.

I think the stainless were around $80 and the plastic are $60. You probably can find them cheapest online. I would just get the plastic if you are going to paint them.
