Default Paint chrome bumper

Trying to get ideas on getting rid of the chrome on my truck and I'm getting the Lincoln grill took off today and was wondering about painting the bumper or what are my options I don't want to spend a lot for a new bumper

The BEST way to do it, is to have your bumper media blasted then get a good DTM Primer/Sealer. From there, paint it to match or whatever color you want. Any other method in my opinion, won't give you much longevity.

You can paint anything... It's all about the prep work as to whether it works or not.

I have painted a good amount of chrome. I scuff it with 320 or so sand paper, wipe it down with mineral spirits and rattle can it. I have never had any not adhere.

scuff with sanding pad, clean with paint thinner or mineral spirits, wipe with tack rag, then use a self etching primer

The BEST way is not as mentioned above.
The BEST way is to research and see what is best for you. Don't take one person's advice. There are many different options. Powder coating is one. Do not have to remove chrome for that. And if you can get it in with a batch already going in at the powder coater then you can get it done for a reasonable price.

I put new bumpers on my Toyota last month. I sprayed them. It took 3 cans. I did 3 coats.

I'd try to trade them first!! You can generally find someone that really likes chrome that you can swap with.

My 2004 STX did not have fog lights. The bumper did not even have the holes for them.
I was able to find a bumper with fog lights included off craigslist. It bolted right up with no issues. The only thing you have to worry about it what circuit you want to wire them into.

You can go to the junkyard and find a factory switch with fog light function, wire them in as DRL's, wire them to an aux switch, whatever you want.....

I wired them to an auxiliary switch. Just gotta turn the switch on when I turn my headlights on.
