Default P1336 code 2006 f150

Hey guys, I’m not sure if that has been posted or discussed or not but I just wanted to get some insight what my next steps should be. I have a 2006 F150 5.4L with 148,000 on her. I’ve always taken care of my truck and this is the first time she threw a CEL. The local auto parts store did a scan and it came up p1336 and I was told either a camshaft position sensor or a crankshaft position sensor. My question is which one should I start with? Instead of dumping money into different sensors I wanted to ask y’all’s opinion. Thanks in advance!

Is it running funny, or just popped the code?
personally I would look at the wiring for the crank position sensor first make sure it's not crusty it's down on the passenger side behind the crank pulley kind of hidden next to the ac compressor.

it has a little bit of a miss or rough idle but nothing major. I will check the crank position sensor first. Thank you.

Brian, FordTechMakuloco, stated that the crank and cam sensors rarely go bad. I would be looking at all the wiring.

Did you ever figure out the issue? I'm having the same problem. Changed those sensors, inspected wiring. Still having issues. Next step I'm thinking of doing a complete timing job.

This is true, and I looked at wiring and haven’t seen an issue but still cleaned up the sensor plug and sprayed it down with electrical cleaner. The light went out for a few days but came back on.

No I have not found the issue sorry. Luckily for me I don’t drive it everyday but about once or twice a week. I cleaned the sensor and reinstalled it and the CEL went out for a few days but came back on and has remained on ever since. I haven’t noticed any more issues with the truck but I’m just going to keep driving it and see if something else becomes an issue. I know that’s not always the smartest thing to do but i feel like I’m out of options unless I take it to a shop and have them diagnose it for me.
