Default Ouch!!!!!

Hello everyone, great website. Had my '04 screw FX4 in for oil change recently, mechanic was babbling something to me about changing spark plugs ASAP because of poor design from factory. This truck has 35k and has the 5.4 Found this hard to believe, but then I went online and found this website. Turns out to be a relatively common problem, thanks to the info I found on here. I don't want to ramble here, so I'll make a long story short. Just picked the truck up and I'm looking at the receipt for $543.11! Right now drinking extremely large glass of Kessler/Coke. $184.80 for the 8 plugs, $330.00 6 hours labor. 6 of 8 plugs broke off, have them in sandwich bag for later reference. Hoping for some consolation from my fellow Ford fans. BTW just registered today. Have to mix another cocktail, gotta go. Remember 35,000 miles!!!! Thanks Ford.

thats pretty cheap for having your plugs changed with them breaking off. ive heard of people spending over 1k for that from the dealership. you didnt really need to get them changed but its better that you did before they got even harder to get out.

Yeah the factory plugs were rated for 100k miles. Some people do get them changed out earlier simply so there isn't as much carbon buildup thinking they will come out easier. Sounds like your's didn't come out too easily if 6 of them broke. At least your dealership knew how to properly get them out without telling you they'd have to pull the heads and turning your $543 job into a $3k job.

Before selling mine this week I had spoken to my dealership about changing my plugs and the charge was $540 so right in the same ballpark as what you paid.
