Default Opinions needed

I would like some opinions on a trade I may do. I currently have a 2009 Toyota tacoma acess cab V6 SR5 TRD. The truck has 71,000 miles on it currently. A local dealer has a 2005 F150 xlt 4 door super clean with 71,000 on it that I'm thinking about trading for. I would be getting a bigger truck to haul my family in easier. The thing that is holding me back is the 5.4 cam phaser issue and spark plug issue. I don't want to put any money or time into the truck Even though I worked in a dealership for 10 years a tech Honda and GM. The truck is very clean and we'll taken care of. The other thing I could do um is drive my Tacoma for another few years then buy something NEW. My budget just doest fit that right now. What do you think???

Personnelly, I would keep the taco. It holds its value better. And the Toyota V6 are know to go 300 k plus miles without a whimper. If I was to trade it would have to be for a newer year truck other then Toyota.

Please don't bash me. Just my opinion.

Keep the taco, buy something newer later when the finances allow. Not saying the 5.4 XLT is a bad truck at all (I love my '05 Lariat), just doesn't seem like you are trading up.

I agree with everyone. Keep the Tacoma over the 05 with the 5.4.

Default Don't do it

That says it , truck will most likely cause just that . This engine takes a lot of care and on average too much in way of $parts for you .

Default Thanks for the replies

Thank you for the replies everyone. You guys just made my mind up for sure. My mind was telling me no already but the darn truck is really clean. It's just to bad that those years 5.4 had the issues.

They are good trucks. BUT you already have a great truck. To trade a 09 for a 05 just doesn't make sense, unless the price was ridiculously low and the truck had very low miles. I sold my 05 blazer 4x4 with 123k for my neighbors 04 XLT 2wd supercab, but it has 26k miles and he was the original owner. Otherwise I would have kept my Blazer and ran it till there was nothing left.

I believe you also have the 4.6 2v, which is an issue free engine. I probably would have traded my 08 for the truck you have.

My thoughts have nothing to do with the 5.4 but keep your truck. ANY truck can have issues and you said yourself "I don't want to have to put any money into it" trading your truck for anything used you wont know for sure what issues the trade vehicle could end up having.
