Default Is this okay???

Can I run a 6 or 10 ply tire in the back and run a 4 ply up front if they are the exact same brand, model, tread etc. The only difference would be the ply and load rating.

What about when you rotate them?

I'd just have to do regular side-to-side rotations, I guess.

Is there any reasoning behind this?

Two reasons actually and I fully acknowledge they may not be good enough reasons...

1) Softer tires up front may keep the ride a little more comfortable for the wife and kids, especially on our longer trips.
2) I can get the 4 plys very cheap through a buddy but will have to pay retail for 6 or 10 plys.

I tow a heavier racecar a couple times per month in the summer but we use it as a family vehicle otherwise. I want to be able to safely tow but have a comfortable ride as well. Basically I want my cake and to eat it too. If it is a bad idea I won't do it.

I think your best option is defiantly the 6ply rated tires. Better safe than sorry. Hell I run load range E on my truck. It makes cornering and turning feel better since im lifted.

X2. NTM I had an inch a half screw going though one of my lugs and I was barely losing air. Any other ply and I would have been flatter than a middleschool girl
