Default oil question

So I'm hearing alot of hype about running 10w-40 in my 3v 5.4. V8. I hear it can help to eliminate some of the ticking noise coming from the cam. Has anyone used this oil in the same engine and had no problems? Also would I use the same pil filter as my truck normallly calls for??

There's a thread on the board that covers this.

I can't imagine why you'd run a different oil filter.

First you need to decide if it is really a bad cam phaser noise, or normal warm VCT function. Watch the 5.4 VCT operation and theory to hear some of the sounds. Same oil filter as always.
