did you use 5-20 and a good filter?

sounds like a cam phasor issue, they are oil pressure driven

I don't know much about the phasers, but if they are oil pressure driven change the filter. You might have a bad one, and it is really cheap.

I am having similar issues. Hard starts, low power, pinging some knocking from the passenger side. I think the knocking is the phasers. I have had p0011-over advanced cam to. Took it to ford and they couldn't diagnose it. They said they let it idle for a couple of hours and it stalled on them and had low oil pressure of 14 psi. Who knows if the low oil pressure was before or after the stall. My cams are advancing at idle and can be slow to react sometimes. Thy said they are running 5 degrees retarded. They wanted to open up the top end but I told them no. They wanted way to much money just for that. They wanted to blame everything on low oil pressure or said maybe low oil pressure plus another problem. Service advisor said if was warranty work which it not they would replace the heads. I have not been able to reproduce the low oil pressure problem. Truck runs 24-30 psi at warm idle, 65+ psi at 2000 rpm and cold start up is at 75 psi, all within ford specs. I think it may be problem with the phasers or the cams and journals. Changed the oil yesterday and started a auto rx treatment to make sure the engine is not sludged up but might try to consult a independent mechanic later this week. I am curious what you guys find out.

Kev
