I'm with everyone else. The HD is not designed for off road use, it's a street truck period! If your serious about wanting to off road then buy a vehicle that's made for it.

like a jeep or bronco. . Or a regular cab short bed 4x4

Best off road truck I ever owned was an 89 Toyota ext cab 4x4. Could not get that thing stuck no matter how hard I tried. Still kicking myself for selling it!

the truck is worth 17- 20,000 he can buy a used jeep and still have more then enough cash left for wheels tires lift long travel suspension led light bars and a wench.. And lockers if it doesn't already have them

Personally, I think taking a nice truck and "off roading" with it is a really poor idea. I get the occasional mud puddle but when you abuse your truck consistently, stuff goes wrong. And fast. And at 15, I know I didn't have money to fix broken truck stuff all the time, and I doubt your parents would be too happy about it either. But if you want a lift, some nice tires and what not just because it looks good and you'll use it when you need it, I say go for it.
