Default OEM Muffler Design

Is the factory 04-08 muffler a straight through design like on the 12-13th gens? Or is it like a traditional muffler with the baffles??

Thanks!!

The factory 04-08 is a baffled/chambered muffler. I THINK the 09-14 is also.

The 12th gen looks to be a straight through...i would love it if the 11th also had this design.

650, I thought you were the guy reaming me for wanting to put a 3.5 Ecoboost exhaust on my 5.4.

Turns out you're not that guy. You're a different guy.

Someone on here at one time said our mufflers are straight through design but I don't remember who it was or what proof they have.

Haha I have no intentions on changing out the exhaust on my truck. I just wanted to know if the OEM was already a straight through. It's good knowledge to have when people say that they got XXhp over stock by just switching out pipes. The only thing I'd MAYBE do is a flowmaster muffler swap for pure sound. Keep stock piping. The reason I don't is that my gf and I do a LOT of road tripping in the truck and we love how comfy and quiet it is.

Pretty sure about all you can get without hitting up the tuners and BigMoneyHorsepower is to downsize in front of the muffler to dual 2.25" and that might get you a little more torque and response down low. Merge those into a 3" and ecoboost muffler & tailpipe was the thought there.

Flowmaster's generally are a chambered/baffled design. Magnaflow is a better bet and quieter.

I don't plan on doing a muffler swap. I just wanted to see if our OEM cans were a straight through design as the picture above implies
