Default OEM Bug shield install

First, hello! I'm new here though a Senior User on another site.
Anyway, I recently purchased a '06 Lariat Supercab 4x4 Chrome Edition. I just bought the OEM Chrome bug shield (the short one that is only as wide as the grille). The instructions are vague at best - just show taking off the grille, putting the shield in place and reinstalling the grille.

Mine came with no mounting hardware. Is this correct? It appears that it would simply be held in place by the grille hardware. But guys on the other forum tell me I'm missing some brackets/clips and screws. However, they all seem to have the longer fender to fender shield and it sounds as if the hardware mounts near the far tips of the shield, thus I'm guessing mine doesn't need it - but I don't know.

So, does anyone here know if the short bug shield requires any hardware for installation? I'd sure like to know.

And if any of you are from Louisiana. We're planning a get together in late March - likely a crawfish boil.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I want to say that you don't need any hardware for the installation, but use the factory bolts.

I think the mounting bolts for the grille should match up with some holes in the bugshield? Perhaps that is what the instruction sheet is trying to show.

Thanks for the help. Turns out you don't need hardware - the shield fits between the grille and hood and simply clamps tightly betwen them using the grille's hardware. The longer model shield does need hardware.

The install was real easy and took about 20 minutes. Looks great. Thanks again!.

Thanks for the post and advice amath80 but 1) this is an old thread and I've since installed and removed and sold the bug shield I had. Mine was the short type, covers on the center of the hood above the grill surround. It does not mount with adhesive. It mounts by loosening the 6-8 screws under the hood that hold the grille surround in place. With the screws loose, a gap opens between the hood and the surround. The bug shield has 3 tabs that then slip into this gap. Tighten the screws back and the shield is in place.

I suspect your adhesive method is for the full frontal shield, so still good advice for anyone looking to add one of those.
