Default Odometer/spedometer calibration

I have an 04 5.4L crew that I just put new tires on. I went with Open Country AT2s in 285/75-18. I've always ran stock tires until now. Should I have my odometer and spedometer recalibrated because I went with such a heavier tire? And if so how much should I be expecting to spend to have it done?

I don't know how much it would cost to have done at a dealer, but if you plan on getting an Edge programmer in the near future, you can adjust it on there. Most people on this forum have programmers to adjust shift points, better performance, more gauges to monitor.

Or, just live with it the way it is. Expect that you are travelling 10% faster and putting on 10% more of the miles that you would compared to stock tires. Adjust your oil change intervals accordingly.

SCT or Edge programmers can adjust for the tire size as a side benefit, primary purpose of a tuner though is more horsepower/torque, throttle lag elimination and remapped transmission shift points. A tuner will run you $300 on up on average, depending on which model, brand, ect ect

If you do decide on one, hit me up and I can get you a quote for tuning options.

A dealership can reflash for the tire size as well up to a certain limit usually and would def be cheaper then a tuner but wouldn't have the extra power either. :-) Then again, I may be slightly biased towards tuners as well....
