05 fx4 scab ....weird thing my odometer backlight didnt work when bought the truck used.... then all of a sudden it turned on (green backlight)
for a couple weeks and then turned back off...did this twice over a years time and it hasnt come back on in quite a while...is this a short or what and hard/eay fix? didnt think it could "burn out" since it looks like and led backlit type thing..help, annoying to turn console light on at night to see temp,trip,etc....thanks!

 

All it is is a little bulb. Mine did the same exact thing and its pretty common. Just pull the guage cluster out and reseat the bulb. I replaced mine when i had it apart just to be safe. Took like 20 min. I first thought the bulb was burned out but all it did was work its way out enough so it didnt have a good conection. If you do some searches theres a good write up on it. If i can find it ill post it for you. (has bulb size and stuff). Really is simple though.

Just do a search on this forum for "odometer bulb" and its the top one like ("04 odometer fix")

 

Mine was doing the same, I could tap on my dash and it would come back on. Dealer said it was a short (idiots) then I read the odometer fix and in 15 min it was fixed. Btw I had ordered my bulbs, then I saw that Walmart carries them.
