Default number of mods until custom tune is needed

I have an 08 with a 4.6. I have installed troyers dual e fan set up jba shorty headers a throttle body spacer, an edge evolution and a muffler swap to a flowmaster 60 series and a little larger wheel tire combo over stock. I am about to install a cai my concern is will that make my performance suffer to the point of not being worth it without a custom tune. I have heard that lean conditions could arise. Thanks for any input.

Mixing a programmer with a cai will cause you to run lean, unless you get custom tuned. My next mod to improve performance is gears.

I could be wrong, but I thought the lean problem with a cai was for the 5.4 not the 4.6? Correct me if I'm wrong..

How would you know if your truck is running lean? I have a programmer and air intake paired that came with my banks powerpack.

If you want to know anything about the lean issues with our trucks PM otto457. He can explain it perfectly. He has on several other threads already. Your truck can run lean without you ever knowing. It doesnt need to throw a code just to tell you theres a problem.

To the OP, with headers and an exhaust and edge programmer, it is DEF time for a custom tune. Get into contact with Bill at PHP.
