Whats going on guys! Long time creeper to this great site but this is my first post on here. So this past sunday i decided to take my beat up drop in bed liner off my truck and discovered some wires. I know these are used for trailer lights, my question is, are they supposed to be sticking out like that or is this some thing the previous owner rigged up. I got this truck last april, its a 05 5.4. Thanks a lot for your input guys.

 

Looks to me like it used to have a camper shell on it wires are for brake lights and possibly lights for the inside.

 

Makes sense, do you think it'd mess something up if i cut them? I don't do any towing or plan on it. It seems like the plug by the hitch is still wired but i'm not sure.

 

just trace it back to the source, should be the wire harness next to the spare tire. If you insist on cutting them off, at least be sure to individually cap and tape each wire to avoid blown fuses or starting a fire.
