Default No Power Steering

A few months ago I had the dreaded spark plug blow out. It happened on my way to work so at the time I dropped it off at the nearest auto care shop. I ended up having it towed back to my house. I’m in NE Ohio so it was in the middle of winter and I didn’t want to work on it until it warmed up a bit. The truck was sitting for about 2 months before I tried to fire it up and move into my garage. I got it started and no power steering. It’s in my garage and I have hopefully fixed the spark plug issue but now need to figure out the power steering problem. I’m not sure what would have gone wrong when it just sat there. I have not taken it for a drive yet so any chance it’ll kick back in after a drive? Any other ideas before I start replacing things one at a time? My truck is a 2008 4.6L V8.

The steering u-joint, easily accessible under the hood, is vulnerable to corrosion and "stiffening up". I doubt that you lost your power steering just sitting but I also think it is likely that your u-joint needs lube. Happened on mine. A good spray lube right into the joint should fix it. Do it once/year for prevention.

Agreed. U joint. I had my Mark LT parked for 6 days during the birth of my son and when I got in it my first thought was that my pump had totally failed. Couple squirts of Kroil later on the u joints and it is good as new.

Thanks for the info! I’ll take a look at them and lube them up and see what happens.

My 06 LT just did this today! Was parked for 2 weeks. I'll have to give this a try.
