Thanks everyone for responding.

bucko, when you talk about the headlight switch and the dimmer switch youre makin it sound like two different parts (pieces)????

my dimmer switch is connected to the headlight switch (one piece)

i went to the junk yard and picked up a 2005 headlight/dimmer switch with a 7 day return policy and paid 20 bucks.

if it doesnt work i will take it back..... and get a volt ohm meter like you said...

im crossin my fingers... i have nothing to lose with that return policy...

it was the switch.... lol. we have power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My old switch has a extra setting on the headlamps for automatic headlights.... the new switch from the 2005 does not here are some pics

is there a way of taking the switch apart and swapping just the headligt switch since its already wired for automatic lights????

well i took out the small circuit board for the dimmer in the new housing and replaced it in my old switch and everything works great.....

this forum is awesome.... thanks

congrats man it's always a pain when your working on a car but the reward(to me at least) is almost always worth the aggravation
