Default No giddy up and go

I am looking into buying a 2005 xlt 4x4 4.6 v8. During the test drive i put my foot in to the pedal and it seemed like it was bogging down. I can slowly get to speed with no issue but at highway speeds (65mph) if I was trying to pass someone no it seemed like no power The dealerahip mechanic drove it and said it felt normal to him but if you backed off the pedal and then did it again there was more power. Any ideas?

It’s a 4.6L... Plain and simple. They run great and have almost no major issues, but the trade off is power. They’re slugs and that’s just the way it is.

Some things to check... Being 4x4, it may have oversized tires on it, this will make power suffer because it likely wasn’t regeared. Knowing the last tune up would help too. Might be time for plugs and a fuel filter. A throttle body clean and relearn procedure probably wouldn’t hurt either.

the 4.6's are not speed demons. don't expect mind blowing power from a stock 4.6. 4wd will make it even slower

If it felt like it was obviously down on power, but not surging or bucking, I'd be suspicious of plugged cats.
