No A/C in Phoenix, AZ = Death
I'm honestly about to just throw this truck away. However, I love the thing, so I'm here asking for help. Been having issues with the AC for a few months now, have had it worked on a number of times, and have spent near $2k on it so far. It was working just fine since I left the shop last week, and now today it's blowing hot air again. So far I have;
-replaced fan clutch
-replaced blend door actuator
-evacuated and recharged system
-new radiator
-new reserve tank
-replaced some hose for the AC system (please forgive me for my ignorance, I'm not sure what it was)
What do you guys recommend for my next step? Thanks in advance. 2007 FX4 SuperCrew

Auto ac is not easy lots of places to leak .R134 is very sensitive to the right charge with in an oz or two . Auto ac is equal to a 5 ton house unit due to the high losses , if it won't hold a vac then its not going to work ,and that vac has to boil that water in there in order for the pump to pull vapor out. Plus some times you have to adjust the clutch plates on the front of the compressor.
The pressure switches go to the pcm and it decides with other inputs whether ac is going to kick on . You have a clutch relay on drivers fender it sometimes get burnt contacts. If your engine is too hot pcm shuts ac down .
if foam has fallen on your blend door you have to get it out of there, there's lots of videos to get access without pulling dash . try running ac with recirculate -no outside air . Make sure your charge is not low causing evap to turn into a block of ice- then you dont get air flow thru it to cool . Yes low charge causes it to freeze . always run your fan high enough to get flow over coil it can freeze running on low for many miles . But sometimes it just get over our heads and you have to take it in .

First thing I would do is Take it back to the shop that just did all that work. If they are good they will stand behind their work and make it right.
if they don't then it sounds like you got had and need to find a good shop.
You're either going to have to learn to diagnose it yourself or find a good shop and get prepared to spend more $
In my opinion ac isn't really all that more compacted than anything else on a vehicle except that you need some specialized equipment. You can rent a set if manifold gauges from local parts store for free and watch some YouTube videos of you want to try to diagnose it yourself.

I agree take it back to shop . But the more ac that i do, the more I see special tools and more knowledge is needed . Unless you are lucky and its a simple fix .
I had my new 1967 Volkswagen in Arizona in July and they don't have ac and my generator pulley blew up in pieces in the desert. Thanks to some good people who picked me up and got me to a junk yard and back to car .

Like others have mentioned, definitely take it back to the mechanic.
You may want to ask them to confirm the correct air gap between clutch and compressor and that the new actuator is actually working. I've had an experience with some crappy after market parts that left me scratching my head and frustrated to the hilt.
Good luck and stay cool when you can!
***Sorry, I re-read this and noticed you replaced the fan clutch. I thought it was the A/C clutch. You may want them to check the as I stated above
