Electrically I don't see any reason why not to use it for what you want. Compare fuse sizes for both (or all 3 ) sockets & see how they are sized for the loads. On my '02 I use both with no problems either. Sometimes I add a 2 way splitter so I can charge my phone while running the GPS & radar detector...still no problems.

Funny side note: on my 94 Mustang GT one socket seems smaller than the other?? The same cord plugged into one is nice & tight but in the other receptacle it is pretty loose?? I haven't figured that out yet.
