Default Nightshade removal and redo

About a year ago I night shaded my taillights and 3rd brake light. Now they are starting to fade and not look as good. When I did them a year ago all I did was clean them and nightshade them 2 coats. I wanna take the old stuff off and redo them, what's the best way to take off the old stuff? Thanks

3000 Grit wet sand until all of the nightshade is gone, and then some. Then rub lacquer thinner onto them (they will look brand new once you do this) then remove the lacquer thinner and they will look a little scratched. Then do your coats of nightshading, lightly sanding in between. Then light coats of clear, sanding in between as well. Lots of clear coats are what keep them looking good. The reason they are faded is because the nightshade doesn't stick to the smooth surface as well and you didn't clear coat. PM me if you have any questions.

Use 3000 grit in between the coats for sanding as well?

Yes but very lightly, let them dry first as well.

Search for my LED Brake Light Upgrade post so that you won't have to do this every year or so. Prep is the key, wetsanding between coats and using a high quality UV resistant clearcoat is critical.
