Default Newbie here...need help

Hi guys -- I'm new to the site and am looking at buying an 06 F-150 Supercab. The truck is pretty nice looking, white and I think it has the chrome package (it has the chrome rims, exhaust tip, & chrome on the dash) Everything looked nice on it and price is decent with 48,000 mi...however the 4wd selector is on the floor. Anyone think I will not want this?

Also if you guys know of anything else to look for on these trucks when buying, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.

I have the 2006 Supercab and I wish I had the floor-mounted selector (assuming that is a direct physical link to the transfer case). I'm having trouble with my dash-mounted electronic system right now - sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, and even though I have an extended warranty, it carries a $100.00 deductible. Of course, Ford really only wants to look at it when the problem is acutally occurring, which is problematic. Even though it's not as clean-looking, I'd really prefer to have a reliable, positive means to engage the transfer case.

Also, what size engine does the truck have? Mine has the 5.4L, and I unfortunately didn't know about the notorious spark plug problem prior to purchase.

Good luck with your decision,

Chris

Yeah it has the 5.4...there are a couple I am looking at.

I know of one locally a 2005 that was a local trade it doesn't have the chrome package but I figure I could add some chrome as I like. The good thing about that one is a family friend is the head mechanic at the dealer and I'd feel more comfortable buying from them.

Are these spark plugs notorious for breaking off? Should I try to negotiate a new set of plugs in the deal? Anything else I should look at?

avoid 04/05's if you can, 05 has the injector failure, well some do anyway...06/07/08 are the best years...a chrome package with 4x4 shift on the floor? never heard of that before, are you sure it's a chrome package and not some clone?...you can try to get them throw in a plug change, but i bet they tell you no..
