Default New tires patting sound

Just got a new set of tires installed at the local shop.

I'm hearing an audible 'patting' noise from the front drivers side wheel.
Wondering if anyone here has an idea of what could be wrong with the install.

It's not the road and the truck has some shake a high speeds.

We’re the tires brand new? Cupping can sound like that.

Go back and have them recheck the balance.

Sounds like a TPMS sensor may have come lose in the wheel. 08s had the style where the sensor is banded to the wheel itself. Have the tire shop remove the tire from the wheel and inspect.

will do. It does seem like an intermittent sound. More often than not, but I do go through stretches where I don’t hear it.

this was it! The banded TPMS sensor was installed improperly and came off and was bouncing around in the tire. Shop was sorry and comped the purchase and install of new sensors.

Glad it all worked out. FYI, next time you have a sensor fail, consider going to the stem-type sensors. I was told the OEMs have about a 10 year battery life. One of mine died last year and I replaced them all.

wish I would have know that was an option. Stem vales are way easier to relearn DIY than the banded which will likely require the shop to use their tools. Shaking my head.
