Default New Setup for me - Tires & Bilstein

After a few weeks of searching and combing the forums, I think I'm going to put the following combo on my '07 SCab 4x4:

Bilstein 5100 Shock/Strut's up front for the 2" level
Bilstein Shocks in rear with 1.5" AAL to keep the rake

I want to run the stock 17" rims with 33" tires. I'm thinking 285/70-17?

Does anyone run this setup? If so, I'm looking for pics, comments, or suggestions. Thx

Well, you do not need shocks to wear 33's on your stock 17s. If you are lifting the whole truck, I'd go up to a 35 for best looks. My Truck has 285/70/17 and is all stock.

Can I ask why you want to keep the rake? Do you haul a lot?

I'm not 100% on the AAL, I figured a 1" or 1.5" AAL would make the rear sit about a 1/2" higher than the front. I hate when the rear looks like its sagging.

I know a lot of guys run 305's or 315's on the stock 17" but I use my bed quite a bit and do haul a car trailer in the summer. I feel more comfortable with the 285's on a 7.5" wide rim vs. a 305+.

I could go with a 2" Autospring Spacer and fit the 33's but I figured the Bisteins would provide a better ride reduce balljoint wear vs. a spacer.

Could you post a few pics of your truck with the 285's?

I think your on the right track. I don't like the looks of a tire stuffed in the wheel well. A 33 will look good. The following picture is a 285/55R20 with a 2.5" level kit.

There's some photos in my garage, I think you can get to them by clicking here: https://www.f150forum.com/dto_garage...ehicle_id=6181

I think it's a personal thing, I think if you lift the truck (most guys do at least 4", so 2 might be ok..) then 33's look funny hanging out under there. Of course do what looks and feels good to you! My plan is to get the rancho or bilstien "level" lift shocks up front with stock rear heigh, and see if I like that look with my 33s and then decide if I want to go up to 35's sometime later this year when they run out of tread.

I agree. If it wasn't for being practical I'd put a 6" lift with 35's in a heartbeat, but hauling firewood, loading the bed, and putting kids in and out would be a PITA. Thx

NOZXR ------Thats just new tires right on 17's? Evrything else stock. All i want is beefier tires to fill the wells btter and hope for some added ground clearance (not that i expect more of an inch). ANy added with just tires?

Im thinking the same exact thing! I dont mind the rake, maybe up the front end an inch, and i could not stand a saggin az while going camping with gear in the bed with a level kit. BUt if its not necessary to spend money on shocks, and i can get bigger tires in the well and improve the look, i am down with 285's. any updates on yours?

Can't help with the Bilsteins, but here's my 285 75 17's and a 2" level up front and some stock Expedition 17x8 wheels. No rubbing anywhere anytime with the Toyo MT's. They're a bit bigger than the size calculators say at about 34".

Cheers,
Pete
