As far as gas mileage I think your personal driving style will affect it most. I rarely get on the motor and I get around 17-19 average. Keep the RPM's under 2000 and drive under 70 when on the freeway. Of course if you are doing mostly city driving then what you are getting is pretty good. I have gotten a bit over 20 MPG's on all highway runs.

As far as the engine noise my is pretty noisy, too, but since my mileage is good I do not worry about it. I hope it does not come back and bite me, though.

my engine was pretty noisy when i first got it about 5 months ago, i figured it was the cam phasers after i read all the stuff about them. a couple things i did was switch to mobil1 helped a little with the knocking, then i added lucas oil stabilizer to it a couple weeks after and then basically took all of it away. yo can faintly hear it but its much better.

with the ticking noise you have to remember that basically thewhole top of the engine is plastic so your prob gona hear more noise's then in the older engines, just my opinion thou. cause mine makes the same similiar ticking but i got use to it either that or the high piched noise of my a/c compressor clutch going out is covering it up lol

X2 ... has anyone figured out anything on this?

I'm finally taking my truck in this week to a fellow forum members mechanics shop. Hopefully they can figure out a simple fix. Keep your fingers crossed.

This may sounds stupid but I changed my oil last monday with Motorcraft full synthetic and the noise doesnt seem as loud. I think I may learn to live with it though ha.
