Default New Kenwood DNX8120

Hey guys,

First off as you can tell I'm new to the site. I have just put down a deposit on the new DNX8120 from Kenwood at an online store . I am wanting to add a backup camera to it as well. I have been reading several post on several sites. I've read that some have installed them in the bumper, above the plate on the bumber. What I think I would really like is one mounted up around the latch for the tailgate. Just curious to see what some of yall have done, maybe post some pictures and give me a idea of what yall think works best. By the way I am installing this in a 2005 Lariat Super Crew.

Very nice choice! Those are going to be sweet once they come out. A little rich for my blood but damn it would be sweet to have.

I would mount it above the license plate in the rear bumper.

Do you have any recommendtions on what camera to use? I've seen some guys say they fog up or get water in them when it rains or when they go though a car wash.

I don't know any in particular but which ever one you get I would check over the seals and maybe put a little silicon in any gaps that you see.

Well started the upgrades on my truck. Got a brand new set of Alpine Type R SPR-17S for the front and Alpine Type R SPR-57C . I am still waiting on my head unit. Can't wait for it to get here. I have my 2 10" Kicker Comp VRs mounted under the back seat but I haven't had to hook them up seeing how I don't have my new radio yet. Also got a Boyo rearview backup camera that I have yet to install. I am hopeing this weeking to at least get the wiring done for everything so when the new head unit does come in all I got to do is swap it out.

hurricain did your truck come with the component tweeter or did you just add one by removing the rubber plug and running th wires down behind the door.
Wondering cause when i decide to buy some 6x8 components, just wonding if it is possible for plug and play or do I have to run new wires

There were holes in the front doors already I guess where factory tweeter would go. All I did was make the holes bigger using a dremel tool. For as the wiring goes. I bought the speaker wiring harness from Best Buy and cut the ends off. Plugged the end with the factory harness side into the factory wiring and then ran that to the crossover. Just made it a little easier that way so I didn't have to cut the factory speaker wires coming from the stereo. The plan is later to get an amp to drive all of the door speakers so I will run new wires from the amp to the speakers. But for now this is will be good enought. I now here stuff in songs I never heard before.

Well according to a post I saw on another site the DNX8120 should be shipping out sometime in the next few days (fingers crossed). I was just wondering what double din kit works best in the '05 F150. Since it's getting closer to being at my front door I figured I should be prepared for when it here.

Hurricain - Do you know if the steering wheel seek/volume buttons will work with your KW DNX8120?

I've only had my Lariat for a week and I'm not sure if I care to keep or loose those buttons.
