Thank you sir. Mine was a decent bit of work, but I also didn't install the easiest projector. There are smaller, easier projectors that are very easy to install and aim (specifically, the morimoto Mini).
As for cost, mine ran me about $300 for the complete retrofit kit from TRS and $30-40 for materials to do the job. All in all, totally worth it for performance on par or better than OEM Mercedes, Infinity, BMW, etc. Probably my favorite mod, to be honest.
It might cost twice as much as drop-in HIDs, but the quality and performance is 10x better and it is also much safer for others on the road.
