Question new guy with a question

Hey all, quick question. My dad has an 04 f150 reg cab longbed. Once in awhile while driving it makes kind of a grinding sound like the pads are chattering on the rotor. We checked the pads and they are still good, I think it might be somthing other than the brakes. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Welcome to the site!! Is there something in between the pads and the rotors?? Is the sound coming from the front of the truck or the rear??

I have heard of small stones getting between pads and rotor that have been flung off front tire. They grind alittle. Seems to happen quite a bit. I have a friend that is a Blue Oval certified mechanic and he told me this.

he stopped by the local dealership, and they thought it might be a cv joint or the bearings on the front axle, which are nonservicable and can only be replaced.
