Default new guy, need advice

hello all. Im new to the ford crowd. just bought a 05 supercrew fx4. Traded in a dodge reg cab. needed more room due to addition to the family. I love everything about the ford compared to the dodge except for the power. I had a Hemi with a superchips tuner. Now dont get me wrong guys this truck is awesome and im not putting it down (well i guess i am) but i need more power. I have been reading posts on here since i bought the truck 3 weeks ago so i have seen all the opinions about all the various tuners and such. I do pull some heavy loads some times, bobcat, concrete blocks, boat, 4wheelers etc. What i need to know is the best combonation of tuners, exhaust, intakes and whatever that will wake this truck up. any help would be appreciated, sorry for the long post. Oh yea and the truck seems to stumble when it down****s if you get on it. Is this normal?

Yes the stumble is unfortunantly normal. I tried and tried to tune it out. Mine will do it from 2 to 1 once in awhile. As always I recommend the Xcal2 tuner. Its can be set up for just your truck and your way of driving. It will come with a canned tune but if you are dealing with the right tuner you can use it to datalog and send the info back to the tuner and he can E-mail you a new tune to optimize your truck. It is a plug/play and remove system.

I would go with a magnaflow exhaust, troyer tunes, and a AF1. That should give you enough power to pull those heavy loads.

x2!!

For the exhaust I'd recommend the Magnaflow 16614. The the Xcal II with Troyer custom tunes as mentioned.

It will come with a canned tune but if you are dealing with the right tuner you can use it to datalog and send the info back to the tuner and he can E-mail you a new tune to optimize your truck.
If you order from Troyer you are not getting canned tunes. Some like to think you're getting canned tunes because the programmer doesn't see your truck prior to developing your tunes. When you order from Troyer you get some pretty detailed data sheets that you have to fill out. This is information about your truck asking about any engine modifications, exhaust, suspension and your vehicle maintenance. This allows the programmer to develope tunes for your specific truck. A canned tune is built for every truck on the road and assumes that your truck is bone stock and does not take any of your modifications in account. After getting your custom tunes you can do datalogging and send that information back to Troyer and he will make any necessary adjustments to your tunes and resend them to you free of charge. The one drawback to ordering from Troyer is the waiting time to actually receive your tunes, normally a 6 weeks to 2 month wait.

As for the AF1 you can also order that from Troyer performance, it comes in 2 sizes, 3" tune and 3.5" tube. The difference is the 3.5" tube requires custom tunes while the 3" tube does not. I have the 3" tube on mine so that after I install my custom tunes I can go back to the stock tunes for those trips to the dealership and I don't have to worry about putting the stock intake back on.

Thanks for the welcome guys. The truck has the 5.4 and the stumble comes on in any downshifting situation 4-3, 3-2, 2-1. As long as that is normal we are OK. I dont like it but i can live with it. Also thanks for the info, this troyer can give me a custom tune on the stock motor right. and then as i upgrade i just e-mail him with the new info or mods and he will send another tune. Am i understanding this right? Oh and i see some pics of the factory 20'' wheels has any one put on after market 20'' wheels and what kind of a difference did they make in power? I like the extra ground clearance. Thanks again for the help
