Welcome aboard! Always good to have new members.
As to the rear end whine, it might just be that it needs an early fluid change. This is usually recommended aroung 75K, but perhaps your's was slightly abused by a previous owner, or maybe it was used to tow. Have it checked out by a qualified tech for advise; get a couple of opinions from the techs. It's difficult to diagnose that type of problem on an internet forum.
Level kits are cheap and easy to do, and the general opinion on this forum are towards the "pro level" side.
Again, welcome aboard. Nice truck! FX models are a popular model here.

I agree with Bucko, definitely change the fluid before resorting to replacing the ring and pinion. If you do have to R&R, you may want to consider adding a LS or locker if one is not already installed.
I personally prefer my truck to have a rake, that way your not squatting in the rear under load. You can fit up to 33x12.50s stock, if you want to go bigger on tire you'll want to level it.

I would definitely go with black, especially since your truck doesn't have any chrome on it now.
Not a big fan of the bull bars, I believe with most of them you will lose your front tow hooks.
