New Exhaust
I need some opinions on a new exhaust for my truck its a 2005 5.4 4x4 with the cats gutted. I want true duals what size pipe should i go with from the cats back? Also what kind of mufflers should I go with I want something quiter at idle untill I get on it and I want something with a deep tone nothing lound and raspy. Also I was thinking about an x pipe crossover? Does that actually help any???? Thanks
Sorry, I don't know much about exhaust (I'm a girl
)... BUT, I have a Thrush exhaust system on my truck and it sounds GOOD. It's pretty loud when it starts up but idles in the medium range. It gets louder during acceleration which is great! I would recommend Thrush.

Magnaflow is is what I recommend there mufflers filter out all the raspy noises and leave behind a nice deep tone its only loud when you get on the gas which is very ideal I've got the dual exit right in front of my back tire
My question is: why are the cats gutted? You're not helping yourself or anyone around you by gutting them, it hurts velocity and oh yeah something about the air quality. Get hi flow cats installed (magnaflow 91406's are a good choice), an X pipe, 2.5" pipe if crush bent/2.25" if mandrel, a muffler of your choice (magnaflow, dynomax bullet, or borla IMO), and nice looking tips.
This will explain why an X pipe is a good thing: https://www.f150forum.com/f11/exhaus...re-myth-78102/
