New to the Crowd
Good Evening,
Just wanted to introduce myself to the Forum and tell you what I have observed about this one. Yes - I know that this is not the introduction forum, but figured this is where I will spend most of my time browsing
Specs:
2004 F150 Crew Cab Lariat 4x4
3.73 LS
128000 miles
White Exterior / Tan Interior
Tow Package
One previous Owner
I just picked this truck up as a third vehicle for the family (or myself) The truck is actually in unbelievable shape given its mileage and year. I have one spot (dent) on the rear passenger door that I need to fix and otherwise this truck would look NEW. The interior is actually in great shape also and minus a little stress cracks on the light leather (not very noticeable) this baby looks new.
Observations:
GOOD
Well built truck with very little rattles. Of course I have the ashtray rattle which I think I have already found a few threads on how to remove / resolve. Transmission is great minus a little indecision with Overdrive when lifting off the throttle at lower speeds (45-50sh)
BAD
Yes - I have become the proud new owner of a gasser diesel
. Of course I was unware of this issue before purchasing the truck but did pick up on the noise after a 2nd test drive. I made a gut decision right before the purchase and figured it did not sound like a rod knock or something catastrophic in the short block. That of course is my only REAL gripe I have.
Yes I know that these year trucks had a couple of issue such as the plugs breaking and the cam phaser issue. I really wish Ford had handled the phaser issue better then just issuing a TSB, but oh well.
So I sit her pondering if I should attack the phaser issue or not. I do wonder also if it is a combination of the lifters and also the phasers. I imagine that most of my questions regarding this topic will land in the engines section
Well, I just wanted to say hello and look forward to searching yall's previous post and asking / interacting with current members.

Thanks squirrelyyy. No doubt that this cam phaser issue has been spoken to a million times.
Who knows - I may have to add an additional How To article if I tackle it.
