Neutral Safety Switch Replacement
Post Edit: I talked to the Service Advisor who said they meant to say the TPS or Transmission Position Switch is bad instead of the Neutral Safety Switch. So it looks like I need to replace the TPS not the NSS
2007 XLT Supercrew with 5.4L. Lately, I have been having issues with the back up camera and the reverse lights not coming on unless I move the column shift lever between P and R. I brought it in to the local Ford service center because I needed an oil change. They called to say it needs a new Transmission Position Switch - parts and labor around $450!
I asked if they
need to drop the tranny to replace and was told no - but the switch is in a difficult place to access so it is expensive to replace.
My Question is: Exactly where on the transmission is this thing located and how difficult is it for me to replace? I do have access to a 2 post lift. Rock Auto has a Motorcraft NSS for under $50.
Thanks

It is not difficult to replace. It's on the trainy right where the cable connects to. I think its 2 or 3 bolts. You can get to it from under.
Do people still going to the stillerships this days?
