how far out do nerf bars stick out?

i have 2 reasons to get them, one my drivers seat is wearing out more then any car i have ever seen....and 2, the 04+ never recieved a lovely rubber gaurd to protect the doors, so my truck gets new door jams every day...

 

mine stick out slightly further then the door itself does

 

are they factory? u want to get a little buffer as the bottom of a factory 4x4 is about the same level as a door and i figure it might help reduce dings on the doors...as a black truck with a slight lift is a huge ding magnet

 

yeah, you mentioned that to me when we met up about a month ago. I PMd you about mine. let me know. Im sure you dont want them because they are chrome, and everything on your truck is black. westin has black ones for $269 and chrome for $369.

i know summit sells em for 149 and honestly havent heard anything bad except the mounting brackets arent superb however i do have access to sheet metal and experiance in working on metal

 

i dont think they are factory. i got mine from some kid. they came on his truck when he bought it, but he bought it from some hole in the wall car sales place so who knows what they did to it before he bought it.
